• Completed high school or higher outside Japan with 12 years of schooling or equivalent academic ability
• has a financial supporter who can reliably cover study and living expenses
• for the 2-year course has completed at least 150 hours of Japanese study and has Japanese ability around JLPT N5 level or above
• for the 1 year 6 month course has completed at least 450 hours of Japanese study and has Japanese ability around JLPT N3 level or above
