• High school graduate or recognized equivalent
• Japanese Language Proficiency Test N5 or equivalent Japanese ability
• permitted or expected to be permitted to enter Japan through proper procedures
• completed 12 years of school education
• able to prove a financial supporter and supporting bank balance documents
• submit proof of 150 hours or more of Japanese study
