18 years old or above, completed 12 years of school education or equivalent, has Japanese ability appropriate to the admission period, April entrants: 150+ hours of Japanese study history or JLPT N5-equivalent ability, October entrants: JLPT N4-equivalent ability, permitted or expected to be permitted to enter Japan through proper procedures, applicant or financial supporter/parents can pay tuition and living expenses during stay, no health or mental illness issues that would prevent continued study
