18 years old or above, completed 12 years of school education or recognized by the principal as having equivalent or higher academic ability, has the basic academic ability required to enter Japanese higher education institutions, has willingness to study Japanese, has Japanese ability equivalent to JLPT N5 or 150+ hours of Japanese study, can bear tuition and living expenses in Japan, physically and mentally healthy, complies with Japanese laws
