• Completed 12 years of general school education or equivalent to a high school graduate
• comply with Japanese laws and school regulations
• for 2 year course studied Japanese for more than 150 hours or possess JLPT N5 or equivalent
• for 1 year course studied Japanese for more than 150 hours or possess JLPT N5–N3 or equivalent
• have a financial supporter with enough financial resources or ability to support oneself

• Screening of application documents
• written examination in native country (Japanese exam)
• interview test with applicant and parent or financial supporter
