Uncertain about which Japanese language school to pick (Short-Term Stay)
by hirikiko97 on May 18, 2026
Hello everyone,
I am a SE Asian in my late twenties looking to study in Japan for 1-3 months. I have already shortlisted at least two schools in my list: Meiji or Genki AJCS but have not been able to figure out the pros or cons of attending either school. Has anyone here attended either of these schools briefly and could give me your opinion on what either school is like?

For a short-term stay honestly I’d focus less on “which school is objectively better” and more on what kind of experience you want outside class too, because 1-3 months in Japan goes by suuuper fast.
From what I’ve heard, Genki tends to have a more casual/international vibe and is pretty popular with short-term students, while Meiji feels a bit more traditional and structured academically. Both seem decent honestly.
One thing I’d really reccomend is checking recent Google reviews and specifically looking for comments from short-term students, because experiences can differ a lot from people doing 1-2 years there.
Also location matters more than people think. Your commute, neighborhood, opportunities to meet people, etc probably affects your overall experience almost as much as the school itself.
