I keep reading that Language School durations are based on when you start.
April - 2 years
July - 1 year and 9 months
October - 1 year and 6 months
January - 1 year and 3 months
I haven't been able to find an explanation as to why the duration is different other than it lines up with the start dates for universities in Japan. I already have a degree and do not plan on going back to university, but I would like to stay for the full 2 years. It is now April 2026 and I rather not wait until April 2027.
* Are shorter durations more intensive and you learn the same amount of material?
* Do you just lose out on 1-3 terms worth of material?

Because the school year and main hiring season start in April, so most students graduate in March, so the programs are designed that way to line up.
Nothing stops you from continuing for the full 2 years, but the more advanced classes may be cancelled in April and July as pretty much everyone else graduated.
